MEET LATTECHA WILLOCKS
Lattecha Willocks is a Jamaican artist and writer whose work bridges visual and literary expression. Raised by a Rastafarian father, her creative voice is shaped by oral traditions, spirituality, and the rhythmic cadences of Caribbean life. These influences infuse her work with a sense of narrative, resilience, and cultural identity.
Her art is a space where she both embraces and questions femininity—its power, its expectations, and its contradictions. Through whimsical portraits, intricate florals, and figurative works, she explores the many layers of identity, strength, and self-expression.
Lattecha holds a BA in Literatures in English from the University of the West Indies and is currently pursuing her MPhil thesis, further deepening her engagement with Caribbean literature and feminist discourse.
Her journey has taken her from modeling in Vienna to a solo exhibition in Germany, with her work now housed in local galleries and private collections worldwide. A published author, Lattecha’s debut poetry collection, Chants for a Woman to Bloom, is available on Amazon and top-tier bookstores in Jamaica.
Her words, like her art, delve into love, transformation, and the self, offering a deeply personal yet universal perspective.
Beyond the canvas, she brings her vision to life through wearable art bags, turning hand-painted canvases into one-of-a-kind statement pieces.
What’s Next
Lattecha continues to push the boundaries of her art and writing. Her next literary works include a new collection of poetry and a long-form poem inspired by her Rastafarian spirituality, exploring themes of identity, heritage, and transcendence.
In her visual art, she is expanding her Contours collection with more faceless figurative pieces, reveling in the feminine form, while her Blooms collection will evolve with deconstructed florals, pushing the interplay of line, shape, and abstraction.
Whether in paint, ink, or fabric, Lattecha’s creations are an invitation—to see, to feel, and to engage with the world through her eyes.
